Suky Thompson brings to the team her specialist knowledge on heritage, recreation, local government and Banks Peninsula
planning, combined with a proven ability to get things done to a high standard on time and on budget.
Well known in the area for her innovative community projects, Suky's long career started with a degree
in Statistics and Politics and a
solid foundation in data analysis. Progressing through the computer industry
from programmer and then consultant to project manager, she was responsible for the successful development and
implementation of the software supporting major New Zealand government systems including
the Ministry of Education's "Tomorrow's Schools" and the Department of Internal Affairs leading edge
Passport Issuing system.
A resident of Banks Peninsula since 1991, Suky has built up an extensive knowledge of the area and network of
local contacts through actively supporting many community groups while raising a young family. Her extensive knowledge of
local government has been gained through involvement with the local community and serving as an elected
representative on the Akaroa/Wairewa Community Board. Suky has been actively involved with tourism
on Banks Peninsula both operating her own specialist service taking Guided Walks in Akaroa,
and working closely with Akaroa District Promotions to
develop a comprehensive set of walking tracks in the area.
In 2006 Suky founded Peninsula Projects offering her services in project management, research and analysis on a professional basis. Since then she has worked on a series of projects work with organisations such as Christchurch City Council, Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism and Christchurch and Canterbury Development to make a significant contribution to sustainable development on Banks Peninsula.
Dr. Brent Martin brings his specialist knowledge on data mining to Peninsula Projects. Dr. Martin is available on an as required basis
to assist with project design, data analysis and project reviews.
